Who is involved in making decisions
Different groups at L&Q have different responsibilities for making, overseeing and carrying out decisions. Learn more about these groups and their roles:
What helps us make decisions
Our corporate strategy sets our commitments and priorities over a set period.
When shaping our strategy and making decisions about how we deliver it, we consider a variety of factors. Doing this helps makes sure our decisions are responsible, effective, fair and achievable.
We consider:
- what residents tell us and what our customer data shows
- demand for homes and services in the areas where we operate
- legal and regulatory requirements
- health and safety
- financial capacity
- value for money
- our ability to deliver well
- the impact on equality, diversity and inclusion
- risks
- whether our plans are sustainable over the long term
How residents influence decisions
What residents tell us helps us understand what's working well, what matters to you and where we need to improve.
We use resident feedback when reviewing services and making decisions that affect residents.
You can help shape our work by taking part in:
- resident panels and groups
- surveys
- consultations
- complaints and compliments
- resident assemblies
- service reviews
Managing conflicts of interest
We want decisions to be fair, transparent and in the best interests of residents.
All colleagues and Board members must declare any personal or business interests that could affect, or appear to affect, a decision.
If someone has a conflict of interest, they cannot take part in discussions or decisions about that issue. In serious cases, they may need to step down from their role.

How we check decisions and their outcomes
We review important decisions and their outcomes. This helps us understand whether they're having the intended effect and whether anything needs to change.
We do this through:
- regular performance reviews
- internal audits
- Group Board oversight
- committee scrutiny
These checks help us stay accountable and identify where we need to improve.
How decisions are recorded
We keep records of important decisions.
Depending on the type of decision, these can include:
- Board papers
- meeting minutes
- policies
- approval processes
- delegations and decision records
- strategic plans
- annual business plans
