Start of major upgrade programme
Here at L&Q, we believe that everyone deserves a decent home. That’s why we’ve begun our largest investment in housing programme, improving and upgrading kitchens and bathrooms in thousands of homes across the country.
On 12 July, Wates Property Services completed a replacement kitchen for Ms Nyirenda, the first one in the first year of our programme.
Ms Nyirenda said:
“I’m full of happiness and relieved to have a brand-new kitchen installed. I’m very grateful.”

Our Major Works Investment Programme will replace kitchens and bathrooms across thousands of L&Q homes. Upgrades to heating and insulation will also improve the energy efficiency of residents’ homes over the next 15 years.
Amongst other work, we’ll also be addressing damp and mould, reducing repairs demands and ensuring every home is warm, safe, and dry.
Delivering this new kitchen will have been a life-changing moment for Ms Nyirenda and we shouldn’t overlook how important it was. Kitchens are often the hub of a home where meals are lovingly prepared. These are social spaces, and a good kitchen can often make a house a home.
This new kitchen for Ms Nyirenda is the first of many and shows that our aspirations for ensuring every home is a decent home are well underway.
