Why is Diversity & Inclusion important to us?

Diversity and inclusion is one of L&Q's core values. Not only is it the right thing to do- we are committed to equality- it’s an important part of our social contract with our residents that our organisation reflects the wider community so that we are making the right decisions to support our residents. Beyond that, employing a diverse range of people brings different perspectives to bear on decision making and problem solving, helping us to deliver our social mission as effectively as possible.

What does it mean for you?

We do everything we can to make sure our recruitment processes are open and fair. All of our vacancies are published on our jobs page and we also often advertise vacancies through our social channels and other job boards such as workingmums.co.uk

There are no barriers at L&Q (beyond the job requirements and UK law) – our culture is open and inclusive and we welcome applications regardless of your: age, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability. We are recognised externally for our commitment as a Stonewall Top 100 employer, and a Disability Confident (Committed) employer.

Our networks

We have four staff network groups: Kaleidoscope, our ethnic and cultural diversity network; Spectrum, our LGBT network; Inspire, our gender equality network; and iMatter, our health and wellbeing network. All our networks are open to everybody and help to support all our staff to be themselves at work.

Along the way the networks have enhanced our working lives by:

  • Facilitating and participating in Inclusion Week
  • Providing knowledge and training
  • Coaching potential manager/leaders
  • Organising cultural event

Plans for the future

There is more that we can do. We are actively working to recruit and promote more women and BAME individuals into senior roles, and to balance areas of our workforce where particular groups are under-represented. We are also working to close the gender pay gap and employ more disabled people
