We want residents to feel comfortable at home. That’s why we’re investing in improvements that make homes warmer, healthier, and cheaper to run.

As part of our commitment to future-proofing homes for 2050, we’re spending over £1 billion to upgrade properties so they’re ready for a future powered by electricity, not gas.

Our Warm Homes programme

Between 2025 and 2030, Our Warm Homes programme will improve around 1,600 targeted homes that use a lot of energy.

The upgrades will:

  • make homes easier to heat
  • improve comfort all year round
  • help lower energy bills

All work is free of charge. It won’t affect your rent or service charges.

Who’s eligible

The programme is supported by the UK Government’s Warm Homes Fund, and eligibility criteria apply.

We’ll contact you if we plan to work in your area and your home meets the criteria.

How we’ll make homes warmer and more energy efficient

Our approach is simple and designed to make the biggest impact: we start with insulation and solar panels and then upgrade heating systems when needed. Here’s what to expect:

Step 1: We assess your home

We’ll arrange a home visit to check what improvements are needed and plan the right upgrades for your home.

Step 2: Better insulation and renewable energy

In 2024, we launched a 20-year insulation programme to help keep homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

Depending on your home, upgrades may include:

  • wall insulation
  • loft or roof insulation
  • double-glazed windows and doors
  • improved ventilation
  • solar panels to reduce electricity bills

Step 3: Future heating

In the 2030's, when gas boilers reach the end of their life, we’ll replace them with energy-efficient heat pumps. These use around 60% less electricity than traditional electric heaters.

Benefits at a glance

  • A warmer, more comfortable home
  • Lower heating bills
  • Less potential for damp and mould
  • Better ventilation and air quality
  • Reduced energy use
