Build London Partnership Completes 15 new, affordable homes for Sapphire Independent Housing in Camden

An innovative partnership to support grassroots housing associations and tackle the housing crisis in London has completed on 15 new affordable homes in partnership with Sapphire Independent Housing.

The development in Camden includes eight Affordable Rent, four Shared Ownership and three Intermediate Market Rent homes ranging from 1 to 3 beds.

Heather Thomas, Chief Executive at Sapphire Independent Housing said, “We were delighted when L&Q approached Sapphire about working in partnership with the Build London Partnership and we are thrilled to have completed on our first new scheme; a mixed tenure development of 15 flats made up of London Affordable Rent Units; Intermediate Rent Units and Shared Ownership units in Kilburn (LB Camden). Providing high quality homes and services to our residents remains a priority and our new scheme is no exception. We are especially pleased to have had L&Q’s support in acquiring our first Shared Ownership units.”

Sapphire Independent Housing currently manage over 274 units of accommodation throughout London and Hertfordshire, providing quality support and residency to single people in housing need. Together with the Build London Partnership at L&Q, Sapphire have been able to develop genuinely affordable homes for their residents including Shared Ownership for the first time.

Working closely with Sapphire Independent Housing, we have been able to do just that by successfully catering to the housing needs of the community in Camden.”

With an ambitious target to develop 600 new homes by 2023, the Build London Partnership is making strong progress, with a current GLA investment of £5m across 79 homes with a pipeline of 659 and 45 partners to date.
