Acton Gardens Phases 8.1 & 8.2 gain planning approval

L&Q and Countryside have secured unanimous planning approval from Ealing Council for Phase 8.1 and 8.2 of Acton Gardens, marking the next chapter in the regeneration of the former South Acton Estate in West London.

Designed by architects Stitch, this major phase will provide 336 mixed-tenure homes, comprising one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments, houses and maisonettes providing social rent, shared ownership and private sale homes.

Phases 8.1 & 8.2 have been designed to enhance connections across the development, linking the Acton Gardens Community Centre at the heart of the neighbourhood with the newly completed Phase 7.1 to the north. The start of the new north-south road will be created, linking Strafford Road with Avenue Park Road, a key principle of the Acton Gardens masterplan to increase connectivity across the estate. The design has prioritised the pedestrian experience, focusing on landscaping and a pedestrian-friendly street layout.

The newly approved phases also embrace the values of the Acton Gardens masterplan by celebrating the leafy character of the neighbourhood and presenting a distinctive yet elegant backdrop for the public spaces of both Avenue Park and Central Plaza.

Acton Gardens is a 52-acre comprehensive redevelopment of the former South Acton estate – a £800 million investment creating 3,463 new mixed-tenure homes. The development delivers 50% affordable housing and more social rent homes than existed on the estate before the project commenced.  The rehousing of residents from the existing South Acton estate is a key priority.  At the start of the project only 20% wanted to move into the new scheme; this has increased to 94% in the latest phases.
