In January, Fiona Fletcher Smith, our Chief Executive, and David Lewis, Director of Property Services, joined Murat Emir from Zap Carbon to visit residents who had reported problems with damp and mould in their homes.

Zap Carbon are working with us to help tackle these issues and this visit was no different for the Zap Carbon team. Both Fiona and David spent more than two hours on the visit identifying the issue, picking up on repairs and treating the problem.

The visit was an opportunity to understand how valuable and beneficial our Healthy Homes Programme is to improve the homes and lives of all our residents.

Murat was able to explain why, in some cases, damp and mould occurs and gave some great energy saving tips. The resident also agreed to have a small moisture monitor installed to help us and the resident understand what’s happening in their home and to minimise the chance of the problem reoccurring.

More than 11,000 homes have been visited and many of those have had monitors installed. The data we gather from them is invaluable in helping us understand the problem.

Fiona said,

“The care and time taken by our contractor was incredible. I am so proud of the work we’re doing.”
