Environment and climate change
The Environment and Climate Change Plan sets out how we’ll continue our work to improve the energy efficiency and biodiversity of residents’ homes and neighbourhoods. It also outlines how we will reduce L&Q’s overall environmental impact and ensure that existing and new homes are able to withstand predicted climate issues.
Warm and comfortable homes
We’ll take action to ensure residents can afford to heat their homes, speed up the move away from fossil fuel heating, and expand access to renewable energy technologies such as solar panels and heat pumps
Reducing carbon emissions
We’ll tackle our direct energy use and the carbon emissions we create, playing our part in limiting climate change and working towards net zero by 2050
Reducing waste and increasing the use of sustainable resources
We’ll make sure that the materials and design of our buildings minimise embodied carbon, which is produced through the construction of new homes and the maintenance of existing ones.
Creating healthy, green places
We’ll contribute to healthy communities through improvements to the natural environments around homes and creating resident involvement opportunities.
Adapting to be more resilient to climate change
We’ll actively manage climate-related risks by adapting homes and buildings to withstand future environmental conditions such as increased temperatures, flooding and other extreme weather, working in partnership with others to maximise our impact.
