Our ‘Most Thoughtful Neighbour’ award goes to Tabatha Grey and Oliver Marks

As part of Volunteers Week 2026, L&Q colleagues nominated residents who go above and beyond for their communities, recognising those who are truly passionate about where they live through a series of awards.

Our Most Thoughtful Neighbour award recognises residents who consistently show kindness by checking in on others, offering help, and making the neighbourhood feel warm, welcoming, and safe.

Most Thoughtful Neighbour winner, Tabatha Grey

Our winner, Tabatha was nominated for this award by Neighbouring Housing Lead (NHL), Sabrina Fisher, who praised her contribution to the local community.

She was described as “consistently demonstrating thoughtfulness, kindness and community spirit,” playing an active role in supporting several local improvements, and consistently checking on vulnerable neighbours to offer reassurance and support when needed.

“She regularly checks in on a neighbour who lives opposite her, offering reassurance and support when needed.

Her actions help create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for those around her,” Sabrina said.

“A lot of people won’t ask for help unless someone goes to them first and asks how they’re doing. That’s just normal to me,” Tabatha said.

Most Thoughtful Neighbour runner up, Oliver Marks

Our runner up, Oliver, is another great example of a thoughtful neighbour and, as Tamara Morris, the NHL who nominated him says, “an unofficial estate champion.”

Oliver, who lives with a disability, is a dedicated community member who actively reports issues such as ground maintenance, fly-tipping, graffiti and repairs, and supports L&Q colleagues in tackling anti-social behaviour.

“Volunteering and contributing to my community has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life.

It’s given me a real sense of purpose and pride knowing that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference to someone’s day and help create a stronger, more caring community”, Oliver said.
