L&Q leads the way on disability inclusion with top UK recognition
L&Q has achieved Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) status – the highest level of the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme. This milestone demonstrates L&Q’s commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

What does this mean?
L&Q actively champions disability inclusion, removes barriers, and drives positive change inside the organisation and beyond.
Reviewers praised L&Q’s proactive approach and the way inclusion is embedded in its culture, rather than treated as a compliance exercise.
Key actions highlighted in the assessment include:
- inclusion at every stage of the colleague journey – from recruitment and onboarding to everyday experiences
- support for reasonable adjustments, including adjustment passports so colleagues don’t have to repeat their needs
- safe spaces for sharing lived experiences
- tools and training for managers to confidently support colleagues with disabilities and long-term health conditions
- continuous improvement through feedback and data
“Becoming a Disability Confident Leader is an important milestone for L&Q, but more than that, it reflects the culture we’re working hard to build every day. We want disability inclusion to be lived and felt by our colleagues – not just written into policy. This recognition belongs to our colleagues, our Ability network, and everyone who continues to challenge us to do better.”
Tom Nicholls, Executive Group Director – Human Resources
The achievement is thanks in large part to L&Q’s Ability network, which has shaped policies, raised awareness, and amplified lived experiences.
Reviewers specifically praised the impact of networks and advocates in influencing culture and driving real change.
“This recognition shows what’s possible when colleagues come together to make inclusion real. Ability exists to give a voice to colleagues who are disabled, neurodivergent, or living with a chronic health condition – as well as their allies. We’re proud to see that voice shaping L&Q’s culture. We’ll keep pushing for progress because inclusion is a journey, not a destination.”
Suki Sarai, Head of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
L&Q also partners with the Business Disability Forum to benchmark against best practice and keep learning.
As a Disability Confident Leader, L&Q will share its learning and help others create inclusive workplaces.
This recognition reinforces L&Q’s responsibility to champion disability inclusion and contribute to wider conversations about equity and diversity.
