Residents at Winsor Park Estate came together for a vibrant community fun day, supported by L&Q and its Major Works partner, Equans.

There was plenty to enjoy on the day, from face painting and arts and crafts to information stalls and delicious food from a local supplier. Lots of residents came out to enjoy the day, with some also helping run the stalls.

Local organisations helped make the day a success. The West Ham United Foundation delivered sports activities alongside employment advice, while the Safer Neighbourhood Team provided support and guidance on community safety.

Grounds maintenance contractor John O’Connor also got involved, donating plants and seeds for residents as part of a gardening initiative to help brighten shared spaces.

The event also gave L&Q the chance to connect with residents and talk about local initiatives. This is part of its placemaking approach, which focuses on investing in the communities where residents live, by:

  • supporting projects that bring people together
  • improving residents’ wellbeing
  • creating opportunities for those who need them most

Events like this are supported through L&Q’s Major Works investment programme (MWIP), a 15-year, £3bn programme to improve the safety, comfort and environmental performance of residents’ homes.

Alongside improving homes, L&Q and its partners are committed to delivering social value and creating lasting, positive change in communities.

Equans, one of L&Q’s MWIP partners, funded the event as part of its ongoing social value work in the area. This is the second year they have supported the day, with team members also volunteering to help it run smoothly.

Karen Field, Social Value Manager at Equans, said:

“We were delighted to sponsor this fantastic event at Winsor Park Estate again this year. I had a great time on the arts and crafts table, meeting residents and their children. It was lovely to see everyone enjoying the day and getting creative.”

Sharon Beaufond, Community Development Lead at L&Q said:

“It was wonderful to see residents come together for this event, and to have the opportunity to speak with them about what matters most in their community. Supporting communities where people feel they belong and can thrive is really important to us.”

The day was a great success, bringing residents together and leaving plenty of smiles across the estate.
