L&Q wins place on new housing delivery panel

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has this week named L&Q as one of its preferred housing developers for the next four years.

The third generation Delivery Partner Panel (DPP3) will be used to deliver £8bn worth of residential-led development on public sector land.

The new panel is split into five regional lots and L&Q successfully bid for a place on three of the lots – East and South East, South and South West, and the Midlands – which will deliver a combined £5.3bn worth of housing projects.

L&Q is already a member of a separate London framework, the London Development Panel, which is run by the Greater London Authority.

Adam Simpson, Director of Joint Venture Development and Regeneration at L&Q, said: “We are delighted to have been selected for these three lots, and we look forward to working with the HCA and other partners over the coming years.

“L&Q aims to deliver 100,000 quality new homes in our capacity as lead developer and as an enabler working with key delivery partners. Being on DPP3 offers exciting new partnership opportunities, particularly in new areas for us like the Midlands, as we seek to tackle Britain’s housing crisis.”

Nick Walkley, Chief Executive of the HCA, said: “This autumn, the HCA will relaunch as Homes England with the ambition of creating a better housing market. We’re determined to get more homes built now and increase the rate of future development.

“So we hope as many local authorities and public bodies as possible use our improved Delivery Partner Panel to increase the pace of construction of new homes, while saving time, effort and costs.”

The panel will provide a simple, speedy and efficient procurement route for public sector organisations to appoint a pre-qualified developer or contractor. It consists of 70 leading national and regional housing developers and contractors and includes all activities necessary to construct housing and associated infrastructure, ranging from development and disposal of sites for residential use, to marketing and sales of homes.
