L&Q to sponsor Hackney WickED for third consecutive year
Hackney WickED will once again open the doors to local art studios within the East London community, with key sponsorship from the L&Q Group for the third consecutive year.
Launching on 28 July 2017, the three day festival of arts will bring together over 20 galleries, venues and studios across both Hackney Wick and Fish Island, allowing local artists to showcase their latest works.
Hackney WickED is this year hosted in conjunction with renowned artist Gavin Turk, who has helped the Community Interest Community to collate an exhibition by a range of artists – from renowned international names to the exciting new generation of the grassroots scene, students, and everything in between – at Here East, which will be available for the public to visit throughout the weekend.
There will also be dance, music, art installations, live art, photography, with cafes, markets and evening fringe events also on offer.
Tony Harker, Director of Sales & Marketing East at L&Q Group, comments:“L&Q are pleased to be supporting Hackney WickED for a third year running. This well-respected annual event brings people from across the capital and beyond to Hackney Wick, one of East London’s ‘hidden’ villages.”
“As an organisation, we place an emphasis on working with communities. Collaborating with arts initiatives, such as Hackney WickED, which promote the work of local artists, is an essential part of our work as we continue to develop quality new homes within sustainable communities.”
Hackney WickED organiser, Anna Maloney, explains: “This exceptional event is a rare glimpse into the cultural heart of London, inviting everyone to come and explore the area, celebrate work from London’s most talented artist base in this unique community. Support for Hackney WickED from organisations such as L&Q is essential to the success of the project.”
