Working together to support residents this winter

Residents were welcomed to the Lewington Centre before Christmas, at a time of year that can sometimes feel long and challenging.

With hot chocolate flowing, festive music in the background and excited chatter filling the air, our Together This Winter event offered a chance to connect and spend time with neighbours.

On the day there was also practical support, thanks to donations from our partners Wates Property Services, Axis, Amber and Morgan Sindall.

Families received beautifully wrapped gifts, as well as household essentials.

More than 60 food hampers were also handed out to residents who had registered for them in advance.

For those that couldn’t make the event, volunteers delivered more hampers around Lewisham, Lambeth, Bexley and Southwark to make sure that nobody missed out.

Natalie Playfair, community development lead for the L&Q Foundation, said:

“Winter can be a challenging time, especially for families already under pressure. Our aim was to create a day that felt warm, welcoming, and free of barriers. We wanted to offer a space to enjoy hot refreshments and feel connected to the community. The hamper distribution was incredibly well received, after colleagues reached out in advance to those with varying vulnerabilities.

“It was a fantastic joint effort across the Foundation department and our supply chain to make this happen for our community.”
