New TV brings residents together
A new addition to the communal lounge
Residents at a Chingford-based L&Q Extra Care Scheme are enjoying more opportunities to socialise and connect thanks to the donation of a brand-new 55-inch smart TV.
Verdon Roe Court provides 45 homes for vulnerable residents with complex needs. The communal lounge plays an important role in helping residents come together, whether that's to enjoy their favourite programmes, watch live sport or simply spend time with their neighbours.
When the old television in the lounge stopped working properly, L&Q’s Major Works Investment Programme (MWIP) partner, Lovell (formerly Morgan Sindall Services Planned Team), stepped in and donated a new smart TV and stand.
The new television has quickly helped bring residents together in the communal lounge. Residents regularly gather to watch football matches, test their knowledge with quiz shows such as The Chase, and enjoy monthly movie nights.
Margaret Cartwright, Scheme Manager at Verdon Roe Court, said:
“Lovell have done so much for us over the years, and we’re so grateful for this most recent donation. The previous TV was old, small and not working properly.
“Having a new 55-inch TV is great for bringing the residents together - and they’re really enjoying the social aspect it brings.”
Arjun Ghosh, Social Value Officer at Lovell, added:
“I have been working with Margaret for three years now and have seen how hard she works to look after residents at the sheltered schemes she manages.
When I found out about the old TV not working properly, I immediately stepped in to help to ensure residents, many of whom are elderly or vulnerable, can continue to benefit from a shared space that brings them together.”

The donation shows how L&Q and its MWIP partners work together to deliver social value for residents and communities.
