L&Q has today announced the appointment of Vicky Savage to the role of Group Director, Development and Sales.

Vicky joined L&Q in November 2017 and her most recent role was London Managing Director, overseeing L&Q’s development operations across the capital. Following a vigorous recruitment process, she will now step into the Group Director role, which has been vacant since previous incumbent Fiona Fletcher-Smith was appointed Group Chief Executive in January this year.

Fiona Fletcher-Smith said today:“I am absolutely delighted to welcome Vicky to L&Q’s Executive Group as we embark on our exciting new five-year corporate strategy. Building new homes is a core part of our social mission, and we remain fully committed to tackling the housing crisis.

“Vicky has successfully led L&Q’s London development team through the most challenging period in our history, with a development pause in February 2020 soon followed by the pandemic and the temporary closure of our construction sites.

“As we now look to the future, Vicky will use her experience and expertise to focus on building safe, high quality homes and neighbourhoods everyone can be proud of. This will begin with our committed national pipeline of 30,000 homes, of which 19,500 are already on site. At least half of these new homes will be for high quality affordable housing.”

As part of her role, Vicky will oversee landmark projects such as Barking Riverside, L&Q’s joint venture with the GLA, which will create a new town of 10,800 new homes as well as vital infrastructure.

She will also work with Trafford Housing Trust to deliver much-needed new homes across Greater Manchester and the North West over the coming years.

Vicky will lead L&Q’s innovative off-site precision manufacturing programme to improve quality, enhance environmental standards and tackle fuel poverty. L&Q has already committed to an initial 1,500 MMC homes, with the first of these now completed in Milton Keynes and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Her remit will also include responsibility for L&Q Estates, one of the largest strategic land companies in the UK. L&Q Estates controls strategic land capable of potentially delivering another 58,900 new homes nationwide, enabling L&Q to operate as a “master developer”.

Vicky said today: “I am thrilled and honoured to be taking on this new role at such a pivotal moment in L&Q’s history.

“L&Q has a long track record of delivering quality homes and supporting the creation of thriving neighbourhoods. I look forward to leading L&Q’s first-class development and sales team and working with our partners to build on that success.”

Vicky added: “L&Q has always been an innovative organisation, and in my new role I will be working to ensure our homes are sustainable, that we support smaller organisations as we’ve done with the Build London Partnership, and we support greater diversity in the construction industry.”

Vicky is also Chair of the influential G15 Development Directors Group and has worked in a range of affordable housing development roles for over 20 years, including 13 years at Network Homes, three of which were as Executive Director of Development. She has a degree in Urban Planning and a post-graduate qualification in Housing from the London School of Economics.
