Toddlers in Epping Forest will be given a present to unwrap on Christmas morning, thanks to gift vouchers being donated to vulnerable young mums.

Axis – one of L&Q’s contractors for our Major Works Investment Programme – kindly donated £650 worth of Smyths vouchers to young mothers living at Railway Meadow supporting house scheme. The young mums each received £50 to be used to buy their children presents to open on Christmas morning.

James Denman, Head of Service, said:

“Financial pressures and the cost-of-living crisis mean affordability is a real concern for our residents.

“We are so grateful to Axis for their extremely kind donation to Railway Meadow. Their generosity will mean that every child at the service will have a present to open on Christmas day.”

Colleagues have transformed the scheme’s lounge into a winter wonderland, complete with Santa’s grotto, fake snow and Christmas tree.

The festivities at Railway Meadow don’t end there – residents have also been invited to a Christmas party featuring a buffet, sandwiches, cakes and music.

The supported living scheme provides a place to live whilst helping them through the early stages of motherhood, including support with benefit applications.
