Celebrating a decade of Fiona Gardens!

Published on 10/09/2024

Fiona Gardens, our much-loved Extra Care scheme, is marking its 10-year milestone this month.

This purpose-built complex was set up to provide crucial support for older and vulnerable adults looking to keep their independence. Boasting communal areas, tranquil courtyards together with on-site services.

Located in Sale, Fiona Gardens pays tribute to the memory of the compassionate police officer Fiona Bone, who tragically lost her life in the line of duty in 2012. A poignant commemorative stone at the entrance serves as a lasting reminder of Fiona's dedication to serving the community.

residents and colleagues sat in room around round tables celebrating the anniversary

Melanie Merchant, Wellbeing Coordinator, said:

“On Monday we celebrated Fiona Gardens. Fiona Gardens was named in honour of a local policewoman Fiona Bone who tragically died whilst answering a 999 call.

“Friends, family, community members and colleagues came together to celebrate and really enjoyed this special day. Fiona Gardens has become a hub to the local community and welcomes many people from far and wide and may this continue for many years to come. Thank you to all those who came and helped to support this special day.”

Colleagues and resident stood around cutting a white cake with 'Fiona Gardens 10yr Anniversary' written in blue on it.

Trevor Bygrave, Fiona Gardens Scheme Manager, added:

“During my time working as the Scheme Manager of Fiona Gardens we have had many happy occasions and welcomed over 200 residents who have lived with us at this amazing scheme. I am honoured to have worked such wonderful people who have made Fiona Gardens the happy, fun and safe environment it is today.”
