Recognising outstanding construction talent

As part of our commitment to Career Colleges, we donated a £250 voucher as a prize presented to an outstanding Career College for Construction learner.

Havering College’s Career College for Construction was delighted to welcome John Bryson, Head of our Academy, when he recently visited learners at Rainham.

John was on hand to present a £250 voucher to Samuel Sambu in recognition for his dedication to improving his technical construction skills.

This year, Samuel has completed a work placement, received a Jack Petchey Award and worked with a local charity to improve their surroundings, utilising his hands-on construction, project management and entrepreneurial skills.

Samuel, who is undertaking his Level 3 Construction and The Built Environment Course, said: “I was nominated for my dedication and effort, so if you think your hard work is going unnoticed, it is not!"

Havering College is one of our apprenticeship providers and a key partner in addressing the skills gap in the construction industry.

During the visit John also answered questions from Career College learners regarding our Barking Riverside development and opportunities to work with us in the future.
