L&Q secures planning permission for 137 new homes in Croydon

Croydon is set to receive a vibrant and sustainable new residential development, after the borough’s planning committee approved L&Q’s plans for 30-38 Addiscombe Road on Thursday 28 March.

L&Q will create 137 new homes, including 53% affordable housing, on the long-term vacant site. The development will deliver attractive new public realm improvements, including planting, street furniture, and a private courtyard for residents.

The plans have been designed by award winning architects GSA to reflect the character of the area. It will consist of a part eight and part 18 storey building which draws inspiration from local post war architecture, including the iconic No. 1 Croydon building.

L&Q is one of the UK’s leading charitable housing associations, and was created in the 1960’s to provide quality, affordable homes amidst a growing social consciousness around housing and homelessness. The organisation provides more than just bricks and mortar, building aspiration, opportunity and confidence in communities through its £250 million L&Q Foundation and skills academy.

Work is expected to start on the site this year.
