L&Q's Environment and Climate Change strategic plan

We want to make homes warmer and more energy efficient, improve green spaces and prepare our homes and neighbourhoods for the effects of climate change.

Our Environment and Climate Change strategic plan explains how we'll reduce our environmental impact, protect and improve natural spaces, and help existing and new homes cope with changing weather conditions.

Warm and comfortable homes

We'll work to make homes more affordable to heat by improving energy efficiency, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and increasing the use of renewable energy technologies, like solar panels and heat pumps.

Reducing carbon emissions

We'll reduce the energy we use and the carbon emissions we produce to help tackle climate change and work towards net zero by 2050.

Reducing waste and increasing the use of sustainable resources

We'll reduce the environmental impact of the materials we use to build, repair and maintain homes.

This includes reducing embodied carbon – the emissions associated with producing materials, transporting them and carrying out construction and maintenance work.

Creating healthy, green places

We'll improve and protect green spaces around homes to support healthier neighbourhoods and encourage wildlife.

We'll also give residents opportunities to help shape improvements to their local environment.

Adapting to be more resilient to climate change

We'll prepare homes and buildings for the effects of climate change, including hotter weather, flooding and other extreme conditions.

We'll work with partners to manage these risks and help make homes and neighbourhoods more resilient.
