Stratford football tournament nets over £4,000 for charity
A charity football tournament organised by L&Q has raised £4,000 for Mind Matters FC, a team made up of current and former L&Q residents with mental health needs.
10 corporate teams took to the pitch at Harris Academy Chobham last Friday for a day of friendly competition, community spirit and fundraising, in support of Mind Matters FC.
Teams included members from a variety of local organisations and businesses including Frankham, JRP, Higgins, Silvers, Thomas Sinden, Martin Arnold, Hill, Hunters and Calfordseaden LLP.
43 matches were played, and a grand total of 77 goals scored, with Frankham’s football team taking home this year’s much-coveted trophy.
The money raised will help cover new equipment, pitch hire, league registration, kits, and travel.
James Denman, Head of Service at L&Q Living, said:
“We had another brilliant day raising money for Minds Matter FC. Once again, we’re blown away by the generosity of our long-standing sponsors.
"Thank you to everyone who played, supported, and donated. Together, you’ve helped Minds Matter FC continue to thrive both on and off the pitch.”
Ian Joy, Manager of Mind Matters FC, said:
“This tournament means so much to us. The funds pay for our membership into the South London Grassroot Football League, giving our players the chance to compete, build confidence and strengthen friendships.
"Football is a great outlet for vulnerable adults, and we’re so grateful to L&Q and everyone who made this possible.”
