Social value awards nominations for Major Works partners and community groups
Five organisations have been nominated by L&Q for industry awards for their social value work in the community. This includes three Major Works investment programme partners delivering improvements to L&Q’s homes, and two community groups.
The Social Value Supply-Chain Awards are organised by the Social Value Leadership Group (SVLG), a network of over 50 housing associations, local authorities and other organisations working within the housing sector.
What sets these awards apart is the nomination process. Unlike most awards, supply-chain partners cannot nominate themselves.
Instead, SVLG members use performance data and personal experience to nominate supply-chain partners for each category.
Karen Field, Social Value Manager at Equans UK and Ireland, was nominated by L&Q colleague Sharon Beaufond.
Dovile Catterick, Social Value Manager at Wates Group, was nominated by L&Q colleague, Sundar Narashiman.
Both have now been shortlisted as finalists in the Best Social Value Leader, for individual social value leads in a supply-chain partner organisation who go above and beyond.
Axis Europe has also been shortlisted in the Social Value Champion category. The company was nominated by L&Q colleague Aaron Dohnt, for being a supply-chain partner that has a strong social value offer and continually exceeds its social value obligations.
Also nominated were Lower Regents Coalition, which was nominated by L&Q Community Development Lead Sharon Boot.
Aliya Bukhari of Voice of BME was also nominated by L&Q Community Resources Lead, Megan Slade, both in the Social Value Ally category.
The awards celebrate a deep commitment to social value by delivering impactful projects, contributing resources, and creating opportunities within local communities.
They are a key part of the SVLG’s social value week, 25 November to 29 November.
The winners will be announced today (28 November) at a ceremony held at the British Museum.
Chichi Onyenemelu, Social Value Manager, The Hyde Group, Founder & Chair of The SVLG, said:
“The SVLG is proud to host an awards event that honours our supply-chain partners who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment in working alongside us and local communities to drive positive change.
“The SVLG is comprised of over 50 organisations, each with its own supply chain, and so we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the nominated supply-chain partners and their representatives, especially the 27 who made it onto the shortlist. These supply-chain partners are exemplary in their efforts and already winners in our eyes, but we wish them the best of luck as we come together on awards night to see who triumphs.
“Recognising the contributions of our supply-chain partners is vital, and we are delighted that these awards form a key part of our Social Value Week—an opportunity to amplify social value and shine a spotlight on its importance in the work we do together.”
Mark Newstead, Director of Major Programmes at L&Q, said:
“As a charitable housing association, we’re proud to be working with colleagues from like-minded Major Works partners like Axis, Karen and Dovile, and community organisations such as Lower Regents Coalition and Voice of BME, all of whom share our commitment to creating a lasting positive impact in the communities we serve.
“Good luck to all the shortlisted nominees.”
