Roofing workshops help trainees reach new heights in their prospective career
L&Q is excited to have the opportunity to work with waterproofing and insulation manufacturer, Bauder, as part of our Major Works Investment Programme.
Known for its proactive approach and commitment to social value, systems provider Bauder recently conducted a two-day workshop that invited participants to learn essential roofing skills.
The workshop was advertised locally using leaflets and social media to attract participants from all over London.
This workshop demonstrated Bauder’s commitment to helping the local community by sharing knowledge and providing hands-on experience. It also supports L&Q's mission to promote skill development and create paid job opportunities.
Participants had the chance to learn from skilled industry professionals and gain insights into top roofing techniques, further enhancing their career prospects.
Two of the trainees have now been offered permanent employment with Bauder’s approved contractor, London Felt Roofing, which is also part of MWIP partner Durkan’s supply chain.
Tom Pugh, Regional Business Manager at Bauder, said:
“It was a thoroughly rewarding two days for all involved and the learners were great. We will be planning another bootcamp at the end of January or early February.”
Mark Newstead, Director of Major Programmes at L&Q, said:
“We’re excited about the positive impact this partnership with Bauder will have on our Major Works projects and the opportunities it will bring to us and the communities we serve. We look forward to exploring more ways they can support our values. Their dedication to improving homes will help ensure we deliver better, living environments for our residents.”
L&Q’s Major Works Investment Programme will see us invest around £3bn over 15 years to improve the safety, comfort, and environmental performance of residents’ homes.
Beyond improving homes, the partnership includes social value commitments to create a lasting impact in the communities where we operate.
