Cllr Okereke, together with the developers and residents marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of Slessor House, the final building to be finished under this successful partnership agreement.

The Leader was joined by representatives from the key partners involved, including Managing Director of Berkeley Capital Justin Tibaldi and Delivery Director Development & Sales of L&Q Neil Davis.

The growing community at Kidbrooke Village has welcomed the latest addition of affordable homes, split between Shared Ownership, London Living Rent and London Affordable Rent.

Kidbrooke Village is an award-winning regeneration project which has seen the post-war Ferrier Estate transform into a popular and sustainable neighbourhood. Work here places social value and community-building at its heart, as residents shared their positive experiences with Cllr Okereke at the event.

L&Q has been involved with Kidbrooke Village since 2019 and over the past six years has handed over 266 London Affordable Rent homes, 322 Shared Ownership homes and a further 57 for London Living Rent.

Once complete,  Kidbrooke Village will deliver 5,400 new homes alongside a wealth of community infrastructure including the on-site Kidbrooke Station, 86 acres of biodiverse parkland anchored by Cator Park (awarded the prestigious Sir David Attenborough Award for Enhancing Biodiversity), two schools, a nursery, a healthcare centre, and a range of commercial spaces at Pegler Square such as Sainsbury’s, YoHome Supermarket and Starbucks, supported by nearly £60 million in financial contributions.

Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Cllr Anthony Okereke, said:

“Greenwich is committed to delivering the safe, secure and affordable homes local people need and our partnership with Berkeley and L&Q shows has made an important contribution. I’m delighted to see more local people moving into these homes and joining this growing community at Kidbrooke Village.”

Neil Davis, Development Delivery Director at L&Q, said:

“At L&Q our mission is to combine our social purpose and commercial drive to build homes and neighbourhoods everyone can be proud of. And we are very proud of what we have created at Kidbrooke Village together with Berkeley Homes and the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

"While this event celebrates the completion of the 645th affordable home in this superb community and almost six years of working in partnership locally, as a housing association we will be managing these homes for decades to come. So we look forward to watching the community grow even further and we will continue to provide support and exemplar services for residents.”

Justin Tibaldi, Managing Directo of Berkeley Capital, said:

“We’re hugely proud to complete our 645th affordable home in partnership with L&Q and the Royal Borough of Greenwich and it’s fantastic to see more households settle in.

“Kidbrooke Village is a compelling example of successful long-term urban regeneration and has made a hugely positive difference to this part of Greenwich. Partnership working has been key to that success and shows what can be achieved through a shared vision and commitment to delivery.”
