L&Q has released its latest sustainability report, outlining our progress over the past year across environmental, social, and governance priorities and the Sustainability Reporting Standard for Housing (SRS).

Published today, the report highlights our commitment to sustainability across our homes and operations, alongside the support offered to residents through the L&Q Foundation.

A major focus over this period has been improving the energy efficiency of residents’ homes. In 2024/25, we installed 2,284 new double-glazed windows, 1,849 insulated doors, and 1,876 upgraded boilers. Backed by both internal investment and the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, 748 homes were lifted to EPC C.

We exceeded our target for the average energy efficiency across  homes in management, achieving a SAP score of 73.21. All new homes handed over in 2024/25 achieved an EPC rating of B or higher.

The report also highlights growing awareness of climate-related risks like overheating and flooding, which can affect operations, infrastructure, and the wellbeing of residents. These risks are increasingly shaping our strategic planning.

Over  the last year, we’ve continued to make a positive impact on residents lives and the communities where they live. We delivered 2,316 new homes, o f which 81% were for social housing tenures. Through the L&Q Foundation, we supported 5,000 residents to reduce debts, boost income, or cut essential costs, generating a total financial gain of £21.5 million. We also supported a further 426 residents with additional needs to sustain their tenancies and issued over 3,100 emergency support vouchers.

Through our new place-based community development approach, activity is being shaped by resident feedback in our core neighbourhoods. Over the year, 108 residents moved into paid work, with a further 323 supported to move closer to employment.

Our Major Works Investment programme also delivered wider social benefits, helping generate more than £59 million in social value alongside other community investment activities and supply chain partnerships.

Resident involvement continues to expand across governance, service improvements, and neighbourhood initiatives. Nearly 300 residents took part in formal engagement opportunities, while over 800 are now part of our volunteer network. Resident input has helped shape complaints handling, repairs recording, and communication on our energy efficiency programme.

Fiona Fletcher-Smith, CEO of L&Q said:

“The past year has seen us make steady progress against several of our strategic objectives. This comes as the sector faces a significant step change in regulation. These are changes we welcome, as they align with our priority of getting the basics right. Above all, that means maintaining consistently high standards across a large and ageing stock.

"Still, we remain committed to our sustainability goals and optimistic about the future. From improving the safety and sustainability of homes, to protecting and enhancing green spaces, we’ll continue to deliver on our social mission: providing homes that give people the chance to live a better life.”
