L&Q Foundation awards £20,000 to Woolwich baby bank to support families in need
Grants are funding bedtime packs for 400 children across Greenwich and Bexley.

L&Q Foundation has awarded two £10,000 grants to Mama2Mama, a baby bank based in Woolwich providing free essentials to families with young children across Greenwich, Bexley and Lewisham.
The funding is supporting Mama2Mama's bedtime pack initiative, ensuring no newborn goes without the basics.
Each pack contains pyjamas, a storybook, a comfort item, a cot and a mattress, giving 400 children the essentials for a safe and restful night's sleep.
Matt Corbett, Director of L&Q Foundation, said:
"When we asked residents where support was needed most, the answer was clear: support for low-income families and children. There's nothing quite like Mama2Mama around here, and that's precisely why we're committed to supporting them.
One in three children in London are growing up in poverty - a sobering and stark statistic. Zuzana's team are doing extraordinary work, and our job is to get behind them so they can reach more families and keep growing."
Founded on Mother's Day 2021, Mama2Mama operates like a food bank for babies and young children, providing free clothing, nappies, toiletries, toys and equipment for children aged 0–7.
The charity welcome all those in need, particularly those on low incomes, families struggling to manage, and those facing impossible choices between heating and eating.
Demand for the charity's services has surged by 150% in the past year. Mama2Mama currently supports more than 50 families a week, receiving between five and ten new referrals every day.

Zuzana Fratikova, Founder and CEO of Mama2Mama, said:
"So many people are at crisis point. These are families who can't afford to heat their homes, women fleeing domestic abuse, and working parents – all at a time when the cost of everything is going up.
Sleep is essential for a child’s development, mental health, and ability to learn. A good night sets them up for the day and for the best possible start in life . We’re so grateful for this support from L&Q. It makes a huge difference to a small charity like ours and helps us reach more families in need."
With more than 7,000 homes in Greenwich, the grants form part of our ongoing commitment to improving the lives of residents across the communities we serve.
Mama2Mama recently opened a new hub on Pett Street, providing a welcoming space where families can access support with dignity.
The charity was also named Business of the Year and Social Impact winner at the Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards 2026.
