L&Q completes its 1,000th building safety inspection

L&Q’s building safety inspection programme is making good progress, we’re over halfway there.

We are conducting one of the UK’s largest building safety inspection programmes covering 32,000 homes in 1,850 buildings. In March we reached our 1,000th inspection.

L&Q’s rapid and robust approach prioritises buildings based on many factors, including risk. The highest risk buildings, usually those above 11m in height, were inspected first. In order to prioritise the right blocks, our teams undertook a detailed assessment of our buildings.

Some 9,000 homes that did not fall within the scope of the new building safety standards were identified early, and residents were given peace of mind and assurances that allowed them to sell, staircase, or remortgage where required.

L&Q was also one of the first major housebuilders to commit to paying to remediate what we built. This allowed us to free thousands more residents from a ‘mortgage trap’.

To date, 497 buildings have received confirmation that they comply with the new regulations, and a further 74 have remediation work already underway. Work has been completed on 13 buildings.

Our Fire Safety Engagement team is standing by to hear from you if you have any questions or concerns. You can contact them by emailing firesafetyengagement@lqgroup.org.uk or calling 0300 456 9998.

There is much work still to do, but L&Q is proud of the progress we made and we are constantly striving to ensure your safety.
