First ever residents move into Brent Cross Town

Brent Cross Town, the £8bn 180-acre park town by Related Argent in partnership with Barnet Council has welcomed its first ever residents, including social housing tenants, marking an exciting new chapter for the growing community.

As part of the first phase in the development of over 6,700 homes, almost 300 new residences with either a private garden or balcony, have been completed at Conductor House and The Delamarre and handed over to L&Q. These are the first residential buildings to be delivered across the new neighbourhood.

Providing affordable housing early in the development, as well as expansive green and open space including Claremont Park – the first of seven new and improved parks – forms part of the wider vision to ensure existing residents benefit from the transformation of the area.

Conductor House, which will be managed by housing association L&Q, provides 120 new homes, welcoming residents relocating from the Whitefield Estate into new homes at social rent alongside shared equity and London Living Rent apartments.

The building was delivered in partnership with Barnet Council and Barnet Homes - who supported the residents throughout the process.

It follows moves by residents living in the Whitefield Estate low-rise buildings who relocated to 47 new homes on nearby Brent Terrace last year as part of the Council’s wider regeneration programme.

Vicky Savage, Executive Group Director – Development & Sales for L&Q, said:

“We are delighted to welcome residents to their new homes with L&Q at Brent Cross Town and we are proud to play our part in the regeneration journey of the area.

Social and affordable homes are a lifeline for our communities, and this new development will enable residents to keep the spirit of the Whitefield Estate alive, while also providing them with a new place they can live safe, happy and fulfilled lives.”

Councillor Ross Houston, Deputy Leader of Barnet Council and Cabinet Member for Homes and Regeneration said:

“I am delighted to see residents receiving the keys to these fantastic new properties and being amongst the first to call Brent Cross Town home. This is a huge moment for the development, which will bring much-needed new and improved social housing and affordable homes to the area alongside the growing mix of housing that will be delivered here.”

Tom Goodall, Chief Executive Director, Related Argent said:

“The completion of our first residential buildings and new residents is a celebratory moment for both us and the community. With a substantial shortage of new and affordable homes across London, we are proud that over the next 15 years, Brent Cross Town will play a key role in addressing this critical need.

The Whitefield Estate residents have been at the heart of this area for generations, and we have always been adamant that affordable homes would be amongst the first to be delivered at Brent Cross Town. We’re also delighted to welcome the first residents to the newly completed building The Delamarre.

Along with Conductor House, these are examples of the high-quality and sustainable homes we’re delivering alongside our built-to-rent homes which will be launched this Spring.

This is the beginning of the next chapter at Brent Cross Town, as the neighbourhood evolves into one of London’s most dynamic new destinations.”

Development accelerates

The first resident move-ins come at an exciting time for Brent Cross Town. This Spring marks the opening of ‘The Maple’, the development's build-to-rent offer which will welcome its first residents to enjoy the wide range of public and private amenities that the new park town has to offer.

Additionally, university students will soon settle into dedicated accommodation in the Autumn by Fusion, while Neighbourhood Square, which sits at the heart of the town, will be unveiled as a vibrant central gathering space, surrounded by restaurants and retail.

Residents will benefit from over 3m sq. ft of commercial and workspace, a new high-street with shops and cafes, three improved schools and Brent Cross West station which now connects the area to St Pancras International in just 12 minutes.

Fostering a sense of community

Barnet is one of London’s biggest boroughs, home to a diverse population of almost 400,000 people.

Brent Cross Town has been designed as a neighbourhood for all generations at all stages of life. With a range of housing options - including affordable homes, rental units, student accommodation, and later living space - the development will encourage intergenerational living, whilst bringing the community together through an exciting cultural events programme.
