Caring and repairing in Richmond

Residents living at Charlotte Square Green, Richmond, recently came together for a ‘care and repair’ event, combining home repairs with a fun community day.

Alongside requesting repairs on the day, residents were able to enjoy a range of community activities, including a bouncy castle, garden games and refreshments.

The event is part of a series organised by L&Q, which manages homes in the area. Care and repair days are an opportunity to hear directly from residents about their homes and neighbourhoods, helping the housing association to provide more responsive services.

A number of improvements were made on the day, including fixing a front door and kitchen cupboard, replacing a tap, and decorating the outside of a resident’s home. Residents also had the opportunity to discuss upcoming maintenance works in the area and issues in the wider neighbourhood.

Michael Abela, Maintenance Team Manager at L&Q, said:

"My highlight of the day was watching neighbours come together who have lived near each other for many years but had never spoken before. 

“Getting to talk to residents, support them with their queries and repairs, and see the community come together was incredibly rewarding."

Residents praised both the practical support and the opportunity to engage with the team face-to-face.
