L&Q and Newham Jobcentre Plus teamed up to host a job fair on Thursday 22 February at L&Q’s offices in Stratford.

Hundreds of local people attended the fair, which was open to all L&Q and Newham residents. There were 21 employers on the day, all of whom had live vacancies; including NHS, Café Nero, Delaware North, Springboard, Barclays, Cordent Security, Montessori Day Nursery and many more.

There were also 26 accredited courses on offer and additional training opportunities including: NHS training, Workwise, Routes into Work, and Family Issues and Confidence building.

The event was attended by both Stephen Timms, Member of Parliament for East Ham, who openned the fair and Lyn Brown, Member of Parliament for West Ham.

Matt Corbett, Director of the L&Q Foundation said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local residents to take advantage of a huge and diverse range of training and employment opportunities on offer; whether they are looking to upskill, build confidence, or thinking of a new career.

Through job fairs like this, apprenticeship opportunities and other community initiatives, L&Q aims to get over 1000 people into work or better work each year.”

The L&Q Foundation relaunched last month with a budget of £250m to invest into its communities.
