L&Q pledges £650,000 to help communities during the coronavirus pandemic

Housing association L&Q is committing £650,000 to support organisations leading the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Initiatives that focus on the over-70s, vulnerable people, food banks, social welfare, or health and wellbeing will now take priority in grant funding applications.

The L&Q Foundation is also looking to support projects tackling domestic violence and anti-social behaviour, as well as small, locally focussed charities and volunteer groups that may not have been eligible previously.

Grants of up to £10,000 will be available through the Place Makers Fund for applications that include at least one of these areas, and benefit L&Q residents and the wider community.

Matt Corbett, Director of the L&Q Foundation, said: “The current coronavirus crisis is having a profound impact everywhere, including in the communities in which we are invested. To help support and protect our residents, we have been working hard to repurpose our Place Makers Fund to invest in initiatives that are providing what is needed most at this time.

“By revising our priority areas to help local projects that may be struggling to access funding, we hope to provide vital and urgent services to vulnerable people in our communities.”

Projects must start delivery within four weeks of the submission deadline, which is rolling and falls on the first day of every month.
