Five twinkle-toed residents took their turn in the limelight at the Strictly L&Q Living dance competition.

Walthamstow Town Hall became a ballroom for the day to showcase the talents of the L&Q Living community in a tribute to the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.

L&Q Living – which is part of the L&Q Group - provides support to 6,600 vulnerable and elderly residents.  The annual event is held to celebrate the skills of residents living in supported accommodation and acknowledge the great work of the staff.

This year’s event kicked off with a dance show featuring five competitors who had been selected after two rounds of auditions by talented L&Q Living residents. They were cheered on by 230 people from across 35 different schemes.

The audience voted Joe Pecuich, 30, the winner of the £500 prize. Joe said: “I really enjoyed myself. After this competition I am going to continue dancing.”

The judging panel included Diane Hart, L&Q Group Director of Neighbourhoods. Diane said: “L&Q’s purpose is to make a difference to people’s lives and this goes beyond just providing them with a home. Strictly L&Q Living has made my week. It is by far the best event I’ve been to all year and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it.”

The five fantastic performances were followed by the L&Q Living Values Awards, which recognise individuals who make a real difference to their community.
