Residents ask us what decorating and small DIY jobs they are able to do around their home during their tenancy.

The answer is that you can do most things as long as you:

  • Don't have an Assured Shorthold Tenancy
  • Get our permission first
  • Make sure any work is completed by a fully registered contractor

Some examples of things you don't need permission for include:

  • Security measures (additional locks, bolts etc)
  • Shower head/hose
  • Shower rail/curtains

For other jobs you'll need to contact your Maintenance Supervisor or Surveyor to get permission, or you can complete the tenant improvement application form:

Please see your L&Q tenancy agreement for more information and details of any specific rules about what you can and cannot do. If you have any questions, just contact us.
