It’s been brought to our attention that several residents who bank with NatWest report that their cards are being declined when they try to pay us. This is happening for the automated telephone line and agent-assisted transactions.
Following an investigation, this is not due to any system issue on our side. It’s because the card issuer, NatWest, is declining the transaction.
If this happens to you, please speak to NatWest. Advise them that this is a genuine transaction and should be accepted. Once you have spoken to NatWest you should be able to complete the transaction to your account.

Calls to 0300 numbers cost no more than calls to landlines (01 or 02 numbers) and this cost will vary according to your phone provider. They are usually included in any free minutes you have.
Translation and interpretation services
Our translation and interpretation services provide language services in more than 100 languages and local dialects, including British Sign Language (BSL).
The services we offer include:
- on-demand telephone interpretation
- face-to-face interpretation (including BSL)
- video interpretation by appointment (including BSL)
- on-demand remote video interpretation for BSL
- video relay service for BSL
- translation of documents/transcriptions (including larger print and Braille)
- easy read conversion

Once you speak to an Adviser, please let us know your chosen language and we will connect you to an interpreter who will assist you.
British Sign Language users
We’ve partnered with Sign Solutions to provide access to BSL interpreters if you need help when contacting us.
This service is available 24 hours a day. However, outside our normal opening hours, we operate an emergency-only service.
