Press Statement re. Walthamstow Stadium

Steve Yianni, L&Q Regional Director said,

"We are happy to talk with anyone who has a stake in the future of the area and have discussed our plans openly with Iain Duncan Smith MP and have a meeting arranged with Stella Creasy MP. We have also offered to meet with Ms Creasy, representatives from the local authority and members of Save Our Stow to ensure all views for the site are shared.

“However it is important to stress that we have at no point directly received any credible, evidenced offer to lease or purchase the site – from either Mr Morton or other individuals who have expressed interest – nor have we yet been consulted to provide the housing element of a mixed development alternative. Although we are not seeking offers for the site, we have not prevented anyone from submitting one; we simply ask those bids meet the required legal and financial criteria.

"In lieu of any such firm, commercially secure alternatives being tabled for our consideration, our plans and our conviction remain that a housing-led development represents the best future for the site and for the community at large. We are currently in the process of appointing a new team of architects and will be able to confirm a new timetable for our application towards the end of this summer."
