Land swap delivers new play area for families

Sep 23 2010

Denham play areaA land swap between L&Q and a local council in the West Neighbourhood has led to the revitalisation of a run down play area.
Denham Parish Council previously owned the site which is situated to the rear of L&Q flats in the area. The area was an old play area which had deteriorated over time and attracted ongoing anti-social behaviour, with youths congregating to drink and disturb residents in the evenings.
The formal opening took place in the summer, which saw young families enjoy the new play area.
Carl Shillito, Neighbourhood Committee Member and L&Q resident in the area, said: "The new play area at Denham Green has proved an instant success. It is enjoyed and appreciated equally by L&Q residents and the wider community. It brings families and children together where they can play in a pleasant and well designed environment."
L&Q's Neighbourhood Investment and Neighbourhood Services teams partnered with Denham Parish Council and Denham Green Resident Association to provide funding for the new play area.
Aisha Chaudhry, Neighbourhood Investment Officer in the West Neighbourhood, said: "It's great to see the play area being utilised by L&Q residents and the local community, very positive feedback has been received from residents who have said it has made a real difference to where they live."
