L&Q and three other housing associations took to the airwaves in a community radio project in the Reading area recently.

Staff offered advice to listeners on affordable housing, moving home and claiming benefits. Many local community groups were also involved in the broadcast, which included a mix of live and pre-recorded interviews from a studio in the local shopping mall.

There was a slot for young unsigned bands, and talented young people from L&Q estates in and around Reading were given the opportunity to make a recording at a local studio.

Eddie Winship, Reading Community Radio chair and presenter (pictured with Janet Feakes from L&Q and representatives of the other three housing associations), said: “We thank the housing associations for giving the people of Reading the chance to experience taking part in community radio”.
