Residents celebrate completion of refurbishment work at Lewisham Park
Nov 18 2010
It is three and a half years since residents from Lewisham Park voted in favour to transfer from Lewisham Council to housing association L&Q as part of a stock transfer.
It has been a rewarding journey for both L&Q staff and Lewisham Park residents and L&Q is pleased to confirm the refurbishment work, and extensive environmental improvements are now complete. It was this promise that was central to L&Qs bid to become the landlord for the residents of Lewisham Park and L&Q is delighted to be able to deliver on that promise.
Councillor Susan Wise, Cabinet Member for Customer Services said: "It's been really satisfying to see these homes transformed. From the outside you can really see the difference to both the flats themselves and the grounds, and I know that residents can feel and see the difference inside too."
Joan Baldwin, one of the founding members of the resident steering group, said: The big thing we noticed about L&Q was that they really wanted to work with us. They didnt come in and tell us what they thought needed to change. Instead they asked us what we wanted and really listened to what we had to say. I am so pleased with the work that has been carried out. After the transfer we saw an immediate improvement, and the estate has continually improved ever since!"
