Employment at your fingertips

L&Q has teamed up with a beauty salon in Eltham, Greenwich, to give 10 young people the opportunity to train towards a diploma in "nail technology".
The course covers:

• health and Hygiene
• tip application and removal
• nail disorders and diseases
• acrylic nails
• aftercare and retail advice
• customer Care

Mary Rouse from L&Q, who arranged the partnership, said: "Nail Technology offers genuine career opportunities. There is currently a shortage of qualified nail technicians and we see this as a practical way forward for young people to learn new skills and improve their employment prospects."

The programme also offers a 12 month support package designed to help young people into further education, gain employment or to set up their own business.

The scheme is open to people aged 16-21 who are not currently employed or in education or training.
