Free training for the community - how to become an eBay top trader

L&Q is offering residents a chance to get the inside track on the secrets of eBay trading in a series of unique training events.

Taking place in Earlsfield and West Norwood, the half-day courses will be led by Mark Buckingham, an eBay sales specialist, who will be able to provide insight and anecdotes about doing business in this way.

Budding entrepreneurs will be given the opportunity to learn how to turn long-held business ideas into reality, without prohibitive set-up costs.

Sheryl Martin, neighbourhood investment officer at L&Q said: “This event is a great chance for residents to explore the possibilities of using eBay – whether it’s to sell unwanted items or perhaps setting up an online shop, these sessions will provide helpful tips to get started.

“L&Q is committed to supporting the local community and this unique project is a first for social housing providers. We are very excited to work with Mark to provide an interesting initiative for our residents which will support their efforts to gain employment.”

To offer the best possible skills to participating residents, the training sessions will be separated into two categories: beginners and intermediate.

Mark Buckingham, eBay specialist, said: “eBay is a great place to not only find a rare bargain or a high-street deal, but to potentially make money too. The beginner’s course is aimed at those with limited experience on eBay, such as casual sellers, who want to take their first steps to buying and selling online and need a little friendly guidance as to how the site works. The more advanced course is designed for regular eBayers’ who want to take their selling up a notch, and make a regular income from their wares.”

• The Earlsfield beginners’ session will take place on Tuesday 19th April, 5.30pm – 9pm at the L&Q offices on Garratt Lane.
• The West Norwood beginners’ session will take place on Wednesday 20th April, 12pm – 3.30pm at the L&Q offices on Wolfington road.
• The Earlsfield intermediate session will take place on Tuesday 26th April, 5.30pm – 9pm at the L&Q offices on Garratt Lane.
• The West Norwood intermediate session will take place on Wednesday 27th April, 12pm – 3.30pm at the L&Q offices on Wolfington road.
