Sutton: makeover for community centre
Jul 16 2009
Sutton residents joined L&Q staff to celebrate the official re-opening of a community centre on Saturday (11th July).
The community centre on the Wandle Valley estate had been given a free makeover by M&R Refurbishments. The contractor removed children's toilets that weren't needed, freeing up space to create an extra activities room. They also rewired and installed internet points and re-decorated.
Residents and staff celebrated with a fun day including activities such as street dance, a 'graffiti hat' workshop, manicures and henna tattooing.
M&R's contracts manager, Barry Short, joined neighbourhood services director Kevin Jones to cut the red ribbon to officially open the centre. A plaque commemorating the work was also unveiled.
Kevin said: "Working in partnership with the contractors has enabled us to deliver even more projects locally to increase resident satisfaction. Thanks to M&R for all their hard work and generosity at Wandle Valley. It was great to see our residents enjoying themselves and building relationships with L&Q staff."
