L&Q’s Greengate House development in Plaistow has been honoured at the Affordable Home Ownership Awards, winning in the Best Design category.

The Affordable Home Ownership Awards were established to promote the low cost home ownership housing sector. They recognise excellence within the sector and champion housing organisations who build lasting and sustainable homes across the country, which in turn can transform local communities and leave a lasting legacy.

This latest award adds to Greengate House’s growing collection; the development also won the ‘Best New Family Home’ category at Evening Standard New Homes Awards in May this year.

Greengate House offers a mix of one and two bedroom homes available through shared ownership (part buy, part rent).

The original building was constructed in 1919 as an early version of the YMCA. The architects have retained the ornate façade and front element fronting, while the newly constructed buildings incorporate new technology and design to make this development suitable for contemporary living.

Cathy Lloyd, L&Q’s Head of Sales, said: “We are very pleased to have won another prestigious award for Greengate House, in what was a very competitive field.

“This stunning development is a perfect combination of historic elegance with modern day living and provides a fantastic opportunity for first time buyers to get onto the property ladder through shared ownership.”
