Enfield: busy holidays for young people

Over 80 young residents of Enfield Island Village tried their hands at all sorts of activities over the school holidays recently.

They took part in sport, cooking, fashion design, mechanics, emergency first aid, self-defence and music production – all put on by L&Q and community group Oasis.

And during the half-term holiday earlier this year, 40 young people earned accreditations ranging from football coaching to first aid and food hygiene.

One of the youth workers said: "The young people really benefited from these courses. For example one young person completed the mechanics course and now has applied for an apprenticeship in mechanics.

"We're really proud of their achievements and have high hopes for them during the next few months as we deliver more courses for them to explore possible career paths, develop more skills and increase their self-esteem."
