L&Q’s Elephant and Castle work gets thumbs up from Ken Livingstone
Jul 06 2011
The candidate for London Mayor, Ken Livingstone, and Councillor Peter John, the leader of Southwark Council, visited an L&Q development site in south London this week.
Townsend Street forms part of the Elephant and Castle Early Site's scheme. L&Q are constructing four low-rise buildings and one eight-storey block of 37 one, two and three-bedroom new homes for rent.
Mr Livingstone visited a top floor apartment in the eight storey block, and commented on the large size of the homes and the great views of the London sky-line from the large balcony.
The new scheme will provide modern, high-specification homes for residents in key regeneration schemes, including the Heygate and the Aylesbury Estates.
Nicholas Cursley, L&Q Programme Director, said: “We are delighted to be delivering on our plans to provide quality, affordable housing. Our achievements in Southwark, working in partnership with the local authority, demonstrate our ongoing commitment to continue to build new homes for Londoners.”
