Thousands of Londoners attend HousingOptions show

HousingOptions 2010 show

HousingOptions – jointly delivered by London housing associations and HomeBuy Agents, L&Q and MHO – held the London Affordable Homes Show on Saturday 6th February in Westminster and saw thousands of Londoners attend to find out about affordable home ownership in the capital.

The event is the only London-wide housing event which brings together major affordable housing providers operating in London, independent financial advisors and solicitors. All were on hand to offer expert advice about how to get on the housing ladder in London through government-backed HomeBuy products.

With a single visit, Londoners were able to find out more about products such as New Build HomeBuy (also known as part-buy, part-rent or shared ownership), Rent to HomeBuy, and HomeBuy Direct. These products provide high quality homes to anyone earning up to £60,000.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson says: "Affordable home ownership schemes are a fantastic way for Londoners on more modest incomes to get on the housing ladder and help keep this city thriving. We're investing over a £1bn a year in a whole range of affordable homes so there are now more properties to choose from than ever before in great locations across the capital."

Nic Bealey, L&Q Director of Strategy, Marketing & Sales, said: "This year's show was a fantastic success and a great chance for Londoners to find out about affordable home ownership opportunities in the capital. We had record numbers of Londoners register for the show demonstrating a clear demand for affordable homes in London and we must continue to work closely with our partners to ensure we meet this need."

Graeme Moran, Managing Director at MHO, said: "More and more people are realising there are affordable and attractive alternatives to buying their first home on the open market. HousingOptions has seen unprecedented levels of interest over the last year both online and at our events and we expect this to continue as property prices in London remain out of reach for people on low or moderate incomes."

People who are trying to get a foot on the property ladder in London but were unable to attend the event, can find out more and register their details at the HousingOptions website.
