End of the academic year
Jul 07 2011
My academic activities have been at a minimum due to the fact that we are in the closing stages of the academic year.
Reflecting back on the year, I feel I have achieved a lot and made a good transition from year eleven to year twelve.
I still feel I need to improve my organisational skills so that the next academic year will be a little easier on my timetable.
I'm looking forward to year thirteen because of the growing individual responsibility you are given. I'd also like to be a mentor for the year thirteens to make their sixth form experience easier and more enjoyable.
Interior design in Chelsea
I recently attended an interior design course at Chelsea College of Art and Design.
My sixth form art and graphic design department secured a place on this course for me and a few other students.
We had a brief to design and create a dream space simply out of cardboard using a range of techniques.
At first it was challenging to design something that wasn't conventional. Then, as the course moved on, everybody found themselves thinking creatively and had no problem.
It helped to improve my problem solving skills and spatial awareness. It also gave me valuable experience into university style courses and is definitely something I'd recommend to others. I am even thinking of attending their Saturday summer during the upcoming holidays.
London Youth Games
Recently I also participated in the London Youth Games. This event brings young people together from different boroughs to compete against each other in lots of different sports. I represented Newham in basketball. We qualified to the semi finals where we will play Westminster for a place in the finals.
I like playing the youth games because it's a good way to meet players people that appreciate the same sport as you do and a good way to create connections in the basketball community. I'm confident that we will do well and will keep you updated.
