Summer is here

Jul 13 2010

Dominic NortonSummer 2010 is here and I've begun to make my summers plans - Denmark first then Estonia, playing for the Under 16 England National Team during July and August. I feel well prepared and confident that we will make our country proud and produce the desired results. On the other hand this will mean I won't be able to attend any brilliant summer university events this year, such as the Architecture and Graphic Arts courses that I attended in previous years. These courses are great at getting young people exposed to new activities and experience in old ones. They really helped me learn new things and not waste my summer at home. I highly recommend all to attend one of the summer uni courses around.

I'm feeling less pressure on my studies now that my GCSE's have finished. I'm confident that they went well because I was well prepared; it's the waiting until August for the results now. My relaxation will soon come to a halt as in a few months I will be continuing into further education studying maths, physics and art for A-levels. I am looking forward to this next step in my educational ladder and my life.

Furthermore, developments in local parks, buildings and housing in my area are just emphasising change in the community highlighting its growth and expansion. I didn't realise how quickly communities develop and change and this change has also shown me how quickly I've grown up and changed over the years I've lived in Plaistow. The area is clearly improving with help from L&Q. I'm seeing a lot of new housing being built (Plaistow, Bow, Leyton), alongside with the pride within the community, assisting locals to become more connected and increasing the overall wellbeing and happiness of the individuals within the area.

In addition, social networking is taking a big role in my life at the moment because it's an easy and fast way to connect with friends. However, I find this really bad because it seems like I don't go to meet people as much because I'm stuck behind the computer although I am attempting to resolve this by not letting sites like Facebook take over my life. I am trying to go out and meet friends and I recommend teenagers to also do so because it doesn't just ruin your social skills but it's hard to study while on social networking sites.

Next time you hear from me i will be writing from Estonia. Although I will not be able to see the country, I will be able to see some of the comparison between UK and Estonia – distance 1,119 from London and takes 3hrs.
