Pursuing my architecture dreams

Architecture plans
In pursuit of my dreams of becoming an architect I attended my first university lecture presented by Kivi Sotamaa, a professional architect.
I’m part of a programme provided by the Social Mobility Foundation that supports young people from low income backgrounds into the top universities and professions, and they informed me of this lecture series commencing at UCL.
At first I didn’t know what to expect. I was surrounded by people much older than me in a place I’ve never been before, but once the lecture began I felt comfortable learning a lot about university lectures and architecture. These lectures I found very useful and I’d like to continue to attend in the near future. They also supported my dream of becoming an architect as I learnt more about the topic and my interest has grown since then.
Competing for the title with Barking Abbey Leopards
I also played in my first English Basketball League's division one men’s final fours for Barking Abbey Leopards. It has been a long season but we finally made it to the last four teams playing for a championship title, and met Reading Rockets in the semi finals.
I was excited and proud of the team for working so hard to get there. However, this was when we needed to work the hardest. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, we were unable to produce the result we desired and ended our season short of a championship title.
I’ve learnt a lot playing with a division one men’s team with such character and energy and want to strive for a championship title next year. I hope we can transfer the team atmosphere into next season’s team.
England under-18 basketball team
In preparation for the European championship I competed in a tournament in Cherbourg, France, representing the England under-18 basketball team. I took this as an opportunity to get to know some of my teammates and the coaching staff better. We played five games and won three, and were placed an overall third behind Tunisia and Switzerland.
I felt we represented our country well showing a lot of determination and heart although we have much work to do if we want to get promoted in the European championship to division A.
