A few goals to aim for
Nov 15 2011
This month I have been concentrating on achieving a few short terms goals I’ve set for myself.
SAT exam and communication skills
One is to complete the SAT exam. This is an exam taken to assess one's readiness for college in the states. Many colleges like to know your results as it can open up more opportunities for yourself.
My preparation for the exam was sufficient enough that I could enter it with full confidence that I will succeed. It was definitely a drastic change being almost double the duration of any British exam that I’ve taken. I’m confident that I’ve done well and I am looking forward to receiving my results soon.
Another short term goal I've set is to improve my communication skills with people. This isn't very specific, I know, however by writing it down it gave me a rough idea of what I wanted to improve on.
What better opportunity to do this than at the L&Q Foundation launch event, celebrating the great work of the Ujima foundation. This event proved to be a great success. I learnt a lot about the other projects L&Q have done and the awesome job L&Q are trying to do within the community.
Meeting and talking to people that have been involved with L&Q was fantastic. The amount of positive views that I heard was unbelievable and it felt great to be a part of something that is causing change for the better.
The driving test
In addition to the previous two goals another one of mine is to pass my driving test. It is scheduled for the end of this month, therefore I’m gaining the necessary practice and experience on the road by taking driving lessons weekly. For me being able to drive will benefit me greatly as it will aid transportation to and from games and practices making my life easier.
Although the costs of insurance are so epic that it may in fact be easier to continue to take public transport to save money. The decision to buy a car, assuming I pass my test, or continue to take public transport is one I’m currently having to make.
